Composition of the Infanrix Hexa vaccine
The suspension for intramuscular administration is whitish in color, separating upon settling into a colorless transparent liquid and a white precipitate, which completely breaks up when shaken.
Lyophilisate for the preparation of a suspension for intramuscular administration in the form of a powder or dense mass of white or grayish-white color. Reconstituted solution: an opaque liquid that, when allowed to stand, separates into a colorless liquid to form a white precipitate that is easily resuspended by shaking.
The vaccine consists of purified diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, which are not capable of harming the body, promote the production of tetanus and diphtheria antibodies
The pertussis component of the Infanrix Hexa vaccine consists of three antigens (fragments) of the causative agent of whooping cough, hemagglutinin filaments, pertactin and other excipients (the main connecting component is aluminum hydroxide).
The presence of inactivated polio in the composition makes it possible to replace vaccination with other drugs.
The hemophilic component includes antibacterial substances (polymyxin and neomycin), which is taken into account in case of allergies to these agents.
Infanrix Hexa is an analogue of the domestic DPT vaccine, but the presence of six components allows you to reduce the number of injections, which means less discomfort experienced by the child and the number of complications.
The whole difference between Infanrix and Infanrix Hexa is in the additional substances included in Infanrix Hexa, for the prevention of polio, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae infection. In regular Infanrix there are only three components, as in DPT.
Infanrix Hexa is often compared to the Pentaxim vaccine, which does not contain substances for the prevention of hepatitis B
Infanrix Hexa vaccination. Vaccination with Infanrix in Moscow.
The cost of vaccination with Infanrix Hexa is 4500 rubles, the vaccine is in stock! The price includes an examination by a vaccinologist before vaccination! The number of vaccines is limited!
Infanrix Hexa is a combination vaccine for the prevention of the 6 most dangerous childhood diseases:
- diphtheria (adsorbed)
- tetanus (adsorbed)
- whooping cough (acellular)
- polio (inactivated)
- infection caused by Haemophilus influenzae type B (conjugated)
- hepatitis B virus (adsorbed)
Vaccination schedule
The standard vaccination course of Infanrix Hexa suggested by the manufacturers consists of 3 injections of one dose of vaccine (0.5 ml) with an interval of 1-2 months, starting from 3-6 months of age. Revaccination is carried out after 12 months with the Infanrix vaccine. But due to the fact that the first vaccination against hepatitis B is often carried out in the maternity hospital, it is not possible to carry out all 3 combined vaccinations with Infanrix Hexa, so it is alternated with the use of 3-component Infanrix + vaccines against polio and hemophilus infection or Pentaxim. The vaccination schedule is sometimes disrupted due to colds and other diseases and characteristics of the child and, in any case, must be drawn up individually and adjusted by a vaccinologist.
Preparing for vaccination with Infanrix Hexa
Before vaccination, it is necessary to take a general blood test and a general urine test. These tests can be taken at the clinic and brought to an appointment with a vaccinologist, or taken to CityClinic. Tests in our clinic take 1 day and cost 975 rubles, including blood sampling.
During a routine examination of a child at 3 months, a neurologist gives an opinion on the possibility of vaccinating the child. The child’s nervous system experiences a lot of stress during childbirth, and the state of the nervous system is critically important when admitting the child to vaccination. You must take the neurologist’s conclusion with you to your appointment with the vaccinologist. If your child has not undergone a routine examination by a neurologist, this can be done at CityClinic before vaccination; a consultation with a neurologist costs 1,500 rubles.
If a child has a runny nose, cough or fever on the day of the proposed vaccination, you should unsubscribe from vaccination and reschedule it for another day after the child has recovered. If there are deviations from the norm in a general blood test or a general urine test, you can call CityClinic and ask a vaccinologist whether it is possible to get vaccinated with such tests.
Before vaccination, a vaccinologist examines the child, measures the temperature, looks at tests and the neurologist’s report, and carries out vaccination if there are no contraindications.
If a vaccinologist refuses vaccination at a pre-vaccination appointment due to the child’s health, a consultation with a vaccinologist is paid for instead of vaccination (RUB 1,500).
Vaccinologists
At CityClinic, vaccinations are carried out only by specialists who have completed mandatory training in the “Vaccination” course and have valid certificates. Pediatric vaccinologists Evteeva N.V. and Vinkovskaya N.Yu. in addition to certificates, they have many years of experience in vaccinating children at the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology named after. Kulakov and other leading clinics in Moscow. All of our procedural nurses are also immunization trained and current certified.
Advantages of Infanrix Hexa over analogues
As part of the imported vaccines Infanrix Hexa, Infanrix and Pentaxim, the pertussis component is split, the cell membrane is removed from it, so they are much better tolerated by the child’s immune system. Usually it is the cellular (cellular) membrane of the pertussis component that gives a negative effect and leads to many contraindications.
If DPT and Infanrix are vaccinated against only three diseases (whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus), Pentaxim - against five, then Infanrix Hexa has the widest spectrum of action. This allows you to further protect the baby’s health and prevent the occurrence of dangerous diseases. When using Infanrix Hexa, the number of vaccinations (injections) that can (and should) be given to the baby is noticeably reduced. If, when using separately DTP/Infanrix and IPV (inactivated polio vaccine) + Hib (vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type B) + Hepatitis B, a total of 16 injections must be given so that the baby does not have health problems, then Infanrix Hexa allows you to reduce this number to four without reducing efficiency. It is convenient, beneficial and better tolerated by the baby.
Availability of Infanrix Hexa
The Infanrix Hexa vaccine is currently available. However, due to the shortage of imported vaccines in the last 2-3 years and supply interruptions, we recommend taking advantage of the availability and low cost and purchasing the course according to an individual schedule drawn up by a vaccinologist.
Shelf life of Infanrix Hexa
The shelf life of the current batch of Infanrix Hexa is until 2021.
When should the Infanrix Hexa vaccine not be given?
- if the test results do not comply with the standards
- at elevated temperature in a child
- in case of intolerance to the components contained in the Infarnrix Hexa vaccine
- during exacerbation of chronic diseases
- in other cases mentioned by the pediatrician before vaccination
