The Nobivak vaccine is produced by the Irish veterinary company MSD Animal Health, and in our country it is represented by the Intervet branch. They produce 8 types of vaccines to develop immunity against a number of diseases.

To dilute the product, you need a sterile Nobivac Diluent phosphate buffer solution. The Nobivak line includes items adapted for dogs of different ages.

Types of vaccine:

  • Rabies

    for protection against rabies;

  • R.L.

    against leptospirosis and rabies;

  • L4

    and
    Lepto
    for leptospirosis;

  • Puppy DP

    antiplague, as well as for protection against parvovirus enteritis;

  • DHP

    and
    Nobivak DHPPi
    to suppress adenoviruses, canine distemper, DHPPi also has a suppressed parainfluenza virus;

  • KC

    helps prevent bordetellosis, parainfluenza and infectious tracheobronchitis.

How the vaccine works

To fight an infection, the body produces antibodies specific to a particular pathogen. It takes several days for the immune system to create them. When a second “meeting” with this infectious agent occurs, the immune system no longer wastes time identifying the pathogen, but starts the production of antibodies immediately, preventing the multiplication of the immunogen.

An inactivated vaccine is a preparation containing neutralized, non-viable viruses. They are not able to cause disease, but provoke the body to create means of defense against it. As a result of the Nobivak Rabies vaccine, the cat produces specific antibodies against the rabies virus, and if the animal comes into contact with the virus carrier, the body successfully copes with them, preventing the development of the disease.

Indications for use

Vaccination with Nobivac is needed against the following diseases:

  • leptospirosis;
  • parvovirus enteritis;
  • rabies;
  • infectious hepatitis;
  • carnivore plague;
  • parainfluenza;
  • bordetellosis.

The viral agents in the vaccine are very weakened in order to cause disease, but they successfully form a decent immune response in the allotted time.

The immune reaction is such that the antibodies formed by the body not only kill the infection introduced with the vaccine, but will also actively fight in the event of a new serious infection.

Description and composition of the nobivac rabies vaccine

Nobivac vaccines are produced by the Dutch company Intervet International BV

They are a series of drugs designed to vaccinate animals against a number of viral diseases.

The composition includes inactivated (weakened) viruses. Each drug contains specific types of virus against which it is intended.

Once in the body, they cause a response from the immune system in the form of the formation of stable immunity to these diseases.

Nobivac vaccines come in single and multi-component types. They combine well with each other, which simplifies the vaccination of animals against many diseases at the same time.

Release form and composition

Let's go through the features of each drug. We will not detail exactly how many strains are contained in each vial, but instead will look at the form in which different vaccines come.

Nobivac DHP and Nobivac DHPPi

The development consists of live attenuated canine distemper viruses. In addition, the composition contains infectious hepatitis and canine parvovirus infection.

The veterinary pharmacy sells a lyophilized white vaccine. The composition is dissolved with the above-mentioned phosphate buffer solution or with the liquid vaccine Nobivak RL or Rabies, Lepto. The medicine is released in a glass container, hermetically sealed with a rubber stopper with an aluminum run-in. One box contains 10 bottles.

A clinically healthy dog is suitable for vaccination. The age of first vaccination is 8-9 weeks. The next injection is given at 12 weeks.

Revaccination is carried out annually. Only one dose of Nobivak DHPPi is needed per animal.

The drug Nobivak DHPPi is administered subcutaneously.

global $ads_google; //data-ad-slot=”2475549904″ $ads_google = empty($ads_google) ? false : true; ?> if ($ads_google == false) {?>

$ads_google = true; ?> } ?>

Store the bottle in a place protected from light, the permissible temperature range is 2-8 degrees. The solvent is stored at a temperature of 18°C-23°C. The shelf life of the product is 2 years.

A variation of DHP is also used to vaccinate pregnant bitches.

Lepto (Nobivac Lepto)

We present a liquid inactivated bivalent vaccine in the form of a glass bottle under a rubber cap rolled in aluminum. They sell 10 bottles in a pack. One dose contains a sufficient amount of inactivated leptospirosis bacteria, which will protect the dog from both carriage and clinical manifestations.

The first vaccination is given to any breed at 8-9 weeks, the second after 3 weeks. Revaccination with one dose is indicated annually. Injected subcutaneously.

Puppy DP

The bottle contains an attenuated vaccine containing a culture of canine distemper virus and parvovirus. The product is produced in a lyophilized white form. Solvent - Diluent.

Only a healthy puppy is vaccinated at 4-6 weeks, then a subsequent manipulation is carried out 2-3 weeks later, but with the DHP or DHPPi variety.

Rabies (Nobivak Rabies)

One dose is shocking and is valid for another three years from the date of administration. The vial contains a sufficient amount of inactivated rabies virus. The medication looks like a pink liquid suspension.

The dog is vaccinated with Rabies at 12 weeks.

RL (Nobivak RL)

Rabies and leptospirosis will not resist the inactivated vaccine in the form of a pinkish or ocher liquid.

The first vaccination is indicated at 12 weeks; if early protection is needed, this can be done at 9 weeks, and again after 3 weeks. The immunity will work for another year against leptospirosis and three years against rabies.

KC (Nobivak KS)

It is presented as a lyophilisate, on the basis of which an intranasal solution is prepared. The vaccine is based on VERO cells infected with canine parainfluenza and bordetellosis culture, as well as excipients.

global $ads_google; //data-ad-slot=”2475549904″ $ads_google = empty($ads_google) ? false : true; ?> if ($ads_google == false) {?>

$ads_google = true; ?> } ?>

The CS consists of a vaccine and a solvent in vials.

L4 (Nobivak L4)

Another effective inactivated medicine from Dutch developers in the form of a suspension. Only healthy dogs are allowed to be vaccinated.

Nobivac DHPPI

This is a complex vaccine intended for vaccination and revaccination of dogs . It reliably protects your pet and contains inactive strains of canine distemper, infectious hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus enteritis. Presented in the form of two ampoules: one of them contains a white or pinkish powder, and the second contains diluent (solvent).

The drug is used only for healthy animals and is safe for pregnant and postpartum females. The first vaccination is given at 8-9 weeks (from birth). Revaccination is carried out after 14 days . Subsequent repetitions depend on the breed and size of the pet. It is considered correct to vaccinate again at 6 and 12 months , and then annually . The average cost for one dose is 150 rubles ; together with the services of a veterinary clinic, vaccination will cost 400-500 rubles .

In order not to traumatize the pet’s psyche several times, Lepto against leptospirosis is administered along with this vaccine.

Instructions for use Nobivac

The vaccine is injected subcutaneously into the withers. These are Lepto, PuppyDP, DHPPi, RL, L4, DHP. Rabies requires intramuscular administration, and CS is dripped into the nose.

Nobivak vaccination is done according to the schedule recommended by veterinarians and only to clinically healthy dogs. Procedures are allowed for pregnant dogs and small puppies.

It is still recommended to trust the veterinarian in matters of administration, who will do everything correctly.

You can master the vaccination procedure yourself at home, but it is important to strictly follow the instructions for the medication. For a liquid suspension, everything is simple: it is drawn into a syringe and injected into the dog.

The powder is diluted to a homogeneous liquid state by mixing it with a solvent and shaken thoroughly before injection. Both before and after the insertion site is treated with an antiseptic without fail.

It is prohibited to mix different vaccines in one syringe!

It happens that two vaccines are needed at the same time. They still don’t pour them into one syringe - they take different ones and inject them into different places too.

In case of an allergic reaction to the previous drug, the dog is given an antihistamine an hour and a half before the scheduled vaccination.

Vaccination scheme

The Nobivak vaccination regimen is compiled individually for each dog. But there is a general vaccination schedule recommended by the manufacturer .

VaccineAge of first vaccinationRevaccinationCombination with other serums
DHPPiAt 8 weeks.12 weeks, then annually.R.L., Rabies, Lepto.
DHPAt 8-9 weeks.At 3 months, then every year.R.L., Rabies, Lerto.
RabiesAt 3 months.Once every 3 years or every 12 months.DHPPi, DHP, Lepto.
Puppy DPAt 6 weeks, in a difficult epizootic situation at 1 month.At 8-9 weeks with DHPPi or DHP.
R.L.From 8-9 months.After 2-3 weeks with Nobivak Lepto. Then every year. DHPPi, DHP.
KCFrom 2 weeks.Annually.
LeptoFrom 2 months.At 10-11 weeks. Subsequently, annual double vaccination with an interval of 14-21 days. DHPPi, DHP, Rabies.
L4At 6-8 weeks.After 2-4 weeks, then annually.DHPPi, DHP, Puppy DP, combination with other Nobivac drugs is allowed, but without mixing in one syringe.

A separate vaccination scheme for puppies with Nobivak is worth mentioning. It is not necessary to vaccinate with Pappy DP: it is used only in severe epizootic situations in the area, if there are many dogs in the kennel or the owner is constantly in contact with disadvantaged animals: stray, sick, in a shelter, etc. In other cases, the first scheduled vaccination at 8-9 is sufficient weeks using DHPPi or DHP.

Contraindications

The most important contraindication for the entire Nobivak series will be the time of the first vaccination: they are prohibited until the puppy is 8 weeks old, for Puppy DP until the age of 1 month.

Vaccinations are not given if:

  • the animal is currently sick or weakened;
  • already infected with this disease;
  • deworming has not been done (it is carried out 8-10 days before vaccination). This is due to the fact that internal parasites seriously reduce the strength of the immune system;
  • increased sensitivity to the components of the drug has been identified - it is better not to experiment and resolve this issue with a doctor;
  • if damage to the bottle is noticed or it is obvious that the contents are spoiled, the container with the medicine must be disinfected. Boil the bottle with the composition for 10 minutes and throw it away. This must be done; you should not give even weakened viruses a chance to escape into the wild;
  • the dog's ears and tail have just been docked;
  • teeth change;
  • mating is planned.

Contraindications for use

Contraindications for the use of the drug are:

  • diseases of the dog that lead to decreased immunity;
  • weakened and exhausted state of the animal;
  • damage by endo and exoparasites.

Sick and weakened individuals are exempt from the administration of such drugs.

Side effects

global $ads_google;
//data-ad-slot=”2475549904″ $ads_google = empty($ads_google) ? false : true; ?> if ($ads_google == false) {?> $ads_google = true; ?> } ?> Minor and temporary side effects are allowed. They do not require special care or a visit to the veterinarian. The dog may be lethargic and drowsy for some time after the vaccine is administered. Sometimes the temperature may rise, but only slightly.

In addition, in rare cases, the dog may experience diarrhea and vomiting, and the injection site may become slightly thicker and redden.

For the CS form, side effects include the appearance of swelling, nasal discharge, disturbances in breathing processes, and a rash on the face.

The animal is monitored: if fever, convulsions, increased salivation with foam suddenly appear, then they immediately contact the veterinary clinic.

What does it help with?

“Nobivak DHPPi” provides vaccinated dogs with protective immunity, which prevents them from contracting canine distemper, parvovirus enteritis, adenoviral infection or parainfluenza . Using the Manhattan LPV3 strain, the second serotype induces immunity to both this and the first serotype. The latter can cause infectious hepatitis. Acquired immunity can guarantee the puppy’s protection from the diseases listed above for a year. The injections are safe and areactogenic.

Important! In the morning before vaccination, do not feed your pet, do not wash it and let it rest.

Preparing your pet for vaccination

Preparation for vaccination with Nobivak depends on whether it is a puppy or an adult dog.

If an unvaccinated puppy comes into the house, we don’t waste time - parvovirus will not wait, just like canine distemper (everyone is used to calling it “distemper”) and other infectious diseases.

A decent breeder will always indicate at what point anthelmintic treatment was carried out. If about 13-14 days have passed after flea treatment, and no more than 9-10 days have passed after antihelminthic measures, the puppy can be vaccinated. If the deadlines are missed, antiparasitic treatment is carried out.

Flea drops are selected according to the age and weight of the baby in strict accordance with the recommendations on the packaging.

After carrying out the anti-flea manipulation, you need to give the puppy something anti-helminthic. After 5-7 days, observe the feces. If there are no worms, vaccination is carried out. If a helminthic infestation is detected, the vaccination is temporarily canceled - re-treatment is necessary. If after 4-5 days there is “silence” and no parasites are visible, you can go and get vaccinated.

It is much easier to prepare an adult dog - it is already vaccinated against many diseases. It’s not a big deal if the date is pushed back by a month for some reason; on average, the vaccine is designed to last for a longer period of 14 months.

If the animal does not have fleas, then it is “wormed” 10 days before the selected date. Watching and waiting. If there are no parasites, you can get a vaccine.

Basic recommendations for administering Nobivak vaccination

The vaccination regimen of this series is considered quite complex and time-consuming. First of all, vaccination of puppies should be carried out strictly according to age; based on this parameter, the veterinarian decides what type of drug should be administered to the pet.

  • Dogs must be given an anthelmintic drug 3 weeks before vaccination; this is a prerequisite, because if the animal has helminths, the vaccination procedure will be useless. Since the injection has no effect on an animal infected with worms.
  • Before vaccination, the dog must be examined by a veterinarian. Even minor discomfort should be a reason to postpone the injection until a more appropriate time. The dog should be in good spirits and have an excellent appetite.
  • Puppies picked up on the street should not be vaccinated. First, the animal is quarantined and any contact with another pet is excluded. This necessary measure will help identify any disease. First, it is better to take a blood test from the “foundling” for the presence of antibodies, maybe he has already been vaccinated.
  • It is better not to vaccinate dogs during the period when their baby teeth are changing; if the scheme suggests that due to age it is time to vaccinate, and her teeth are changing, then it is better to postpone the important procedure for a while. If puppies are subjected to tail and ear docking, then this procedure is best performed 3 weeks before the drug is administered.
  • After vaccination, puppies must be protected from water, stress and hypothermia for about 10 days. It is also recommended not to overload your pet with physical activity.
  • If dogs have a tendency to allergic reactions, then they must first be prepared with antihistamines. Since a sensitive animal may develop anaphylactic shock.
  • There are cases when a sensitive animal develops an inflammatory process at the injection site, which should go away on its own after 3 days.

Preparation and use of the vaccine

It is better to do the injections for the first time not by yourself, but by the hands of a veterinarian. It will be much easier for him to calculate the correct dose according to weight. The doctor will also conduct an examination and determine whether the animal is healthy and whether its body is ready for such manipulation. This is also recommended due to a possible allergic reaction. In this case, a specialist will be able to help, but the owner may become confused and miss the moment when the symptoms can be stopped without problems.

But you can re-vaccinate yourself at home. If it is an injection, you need to learn how to inject your dog.

First, antiparasitic treatment is also carried out 10 days before the selected date. Otherwise just follow the instructions:

Open the container with the dry component;

  1. 1 ml of Diluent is poured into the bottle;
  2. Close the container and shake well several times - the solution should be extremely homogeneous;
  3. Draw the required amount of the composition into the syringe, remove excess air, change the needle to a sterile one;
  4. The skin on the dog's withers is pulled back and a needle is inserted;
  5. The dose is administered and the area is then massaged.

As for the type of CS, it is not at all difficult to give it to your pet, because it is not an injection. After dilution, the drug is instilled into the nostril with the nozzle that comes with the kit.

Analogs

Despite the great demand for Nobivak, someone still has to buy its analogues. It’s just not always possible to find the right name in a veterinary pharmacy. You can replace one drug with a similar one if it contains the same viral cultures.

Several foreign vaccines are purchased, similar in strain to Nobivak. We are talking about Vanguard, Hexadog, Eurikan and Rabizin.

There are also Russian analogues that are just as effective in quality, but at a much lower cost. A number of items are also in demand. These are Hexakanivac, Dipentavak, Multikan.

Which is better for dogs: Nobivak or Eurikan?

"Eurikan" is the trade name of the French vaccine series. There are two varieties in the series, one with a strain of rabies, the second without it.

Eurikan DHPPI+2L is used for vaccination of adult dogs and puppies over 8 weeks of age. Revaccination is carried out with a composition containing the rabies virus. Next, the injection schedule is calculated simply: the drug is administered once a year.

This vaccination is also against a number of diseases; the list includes plague, enteritis, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and rabies.

Eurikan or Nobivac - which is better? This question is often asked by lovers of barking four-legged animals. In fact, the answer is quite simple: Nobivak is not always available at the veterinary pharmacy, but Eurican is easier to get.

Rules of application

Vaccination with the Nobivak Rabies vaccine is allowed for cats from the age of 3 months, provided that they are healthy. Unlike the Nobivac triquet trio vaccine, pregnancy is not a contraindication to the use of Nobivac Rabies. If, due to an unfavorable epizootic situation, such a vaccination was done earlier, it must be repeated when the animal reaches the age of 3 months. Scheduled revaccination is carried out once every 3 years.

About two weeks before your cat is scheduled to be vaccinated against rabies, be sure to deworm your pet. The helminthic infestation present in the animal’s body greatly reduces the effect of the vaccine and prevents the formation of active immunity.

The Nobivac Rabies vaccine is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The procedure is carried out as follows:

  • The bottle with the drug is shaken vigorously until a homogeneous emulsion is obtained.
  • Having bent the center of the aluminum cap, wipe the rubber stopper with alcohol.
  • Having pierced the stopper of the bottle with a needle, transfer its contents into a syringe.
  • The injection site is treated with alcohol.
  • After removing the air from the syringe, the drug is injected into a retracted skin fold on the neck or a muscle located under the knee.
  • The cat is kept under observation for 10-15 minutes.

The rabies vaccine Nobivak Rabies can be used by mixing it in a syringe in a 1:1 ratio with the leptospirosis vaccine Nobivak Lepto. The use of Nobivac Rabies with the Nobivac Tricat trio vaccine against viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirosis and panleukopenia is permitted provided that they are administered with different syringes.

Cases of immediate contact with veterinarians

There are, albeit infrequently, situations when immediate assistance from a veterinarian is required.

FirstlyDeterioration in health, vomiting and diarrhea for a couple of days, refusal to eat for the same period, high temperature and the appearance of convulsions clearly indicate serious problems and the need to consult a specialist.
SecondlyManifestation of abscess processes in the injection area. The lump increases in size, turns red, and in some cases purulent formations are released from it. Do not try to open the tumor yourself; just like in humans, this is fraught with infection, including blood, with all the ensuing consequences; take your pet to the doctor. In this case, a house call is impractical, since surgical intervention requires sterile clinic conditions.
ThirdAnaphylactic shock. This is perhaps the most serious and life-threatening condition, when the help of a doctor is required immediately, and we are talking about hours. Allergies are rare, but they do happen, and you need to be prepared for such a turn of events. As a matter of fact, due to possible allergic reactions, it is best to do vaccinations in a clinic under the supervision of a doctor, and not by making a house call, when the injection was given and left.

Types of vaccines, their pharmacological properties

Nobivak is an imported drug; the manufacturer is located in the Netherlands. All products produced are strictly controlled and are absolutely harmless even for pregnant and lactating females. Vaccines do not have a therapeutic effect and are used only to prevent infectious diseases.

DHPPi

Contains weakened strains of microorganisms that cause severe diseases in dogs (infectious hepatitis, plague, parvovirus, parainfluenza and adenovirus). After administration of the drug, the animal develops immunity for 12-36 months.

The vaccine is a pink powder in a special ampoule. According to the instructions for use, Nobivak DHPPi is dissolved before administration with a special solution (Diluent), or with a liquid fraction of another drug for dogs from the same company (Lepto, Rabies).

Lepto (Nobivak Lepto)

Nobivak Lepto contains “killed” microorganisms of leptospirosis of 2 types, which are the most dangerous for dogs. Immunity is developed 3 weeks after the injection and lasts for 12 months.

The drug looks like a clear liquid. Packaged in 1 ml glass bottles.

Puppy DP

The composition includes weakened viruses of the most dangerous diseases for puppies: parvovirus and canine distemper. Animals kept outdoors and in unfavorable areas are vaccinated at the age of 6 weeks. Sustained immunity appears 10 days after administration.

Available in the form of a white powder, which is dissolved in phosphate buffer before injection.

R.L.

This is an inactivated (“killed”) vaccine against leptospirosis and rabies. After injection of Nobivak RL, immunity against rabies lasts up to 3 years (developed after 21 days), against leptospirosis - for 1 year.

Release form: 1 ml glass ampoule with a cloudy solution, color from yellow to crimson. A precipitate may form, which will dissolve with shaking.

Rabies (Nobivac Rabies)

The drug contains inactivated strains of the virus that causes rabies in animals. Immunity is developed after 21 days and lasts up to 3 years.

Nobivac Rabies is used for dogs and cats and is available in 1 ml glass bottles. The solution is a cloudy white liquid. The presence of easily soluble sediment is allowed.

How to store the vaccine

When purchasing a drug, you must ask the pharmacy seller to provide instructions for it. Optimal storage conditions are indicated there.

Attention! The effectiveness of the procedure depends on whether the recommendations are followed. A vaccine that has been stored without temperature control is unsuitable for use.

Most of these products are stored at a temperature of 2...8 °C. Freezing ampoules is prohibited, since the properties are lost in the same way as when heated. To deliver the drug from the veterinary pharmacy to your home, special thermal container bags are used. Such products are on sale. Some pharmacies rent bags with a deposit. To ensure the safety of the drug, some kind of refrigerant is placed inside - “dry ice”, ice cream, a bottle of frozen water.

Special container bags are used for delivery

A low-quality vaccine is always dangerous. In the “best” case, it will turn out to be plain water without a therapeutic effect. This will not harm the animal, but the body will not receive immunity to the infection. In the worst case, it will cause an allergic reaction and lead to death.

Contraindications and side effects

The drug may be contraindicated in a dog if it is highly sensitive to the contents of the injection. It is worth abandoning Nobivac DHPPi if the dog is sick.

After the injection, hypersensitivity to the medication may occur. To eliminate undesirable consequences, it is necessary to apply adrenaline under the skin in such doses as the veterinarian deems necessary. If the animal develops swelling in the area of the injection, it’s okay - it will disappear without a trace in fourteen days.

Important! If your pet does not go outside, this does not guarantee that he is completely healthy. The reason for this is that dangerous diseases are very resistant to virus carriage and change the carrier. Viruses can be found on shoes or other things that you bring in from the street. Therefore, without a vaccine injection, the animal can become seriously ill.

What is Nobivak for dogs?

Comprehensive vaccination is a mandatory annual event for dogs and cats. The procedure is the best prevention against the most dangerous animal diseases of an infectious nature. In addition, leptospirosis and rabies pose a direct threat to humans.

Nobivak is a company that produces high-quality vaccines for dogs and cats. The company's employees are constantly developing more and more new drugs that protect pets from infectious pathologies. Nobivak is widely distributed throughout the world and is in great demand among veterinarians and animal breeders.

It is worth noting that no vaccine provides a complete guarantee that a pet will not become infected with the virus after vaccination. In addition, microorganisms mutate over the years, and new species appear that infect animals and cause serious health problems. However, in vaccinated animals the disease is mild and they have a greater chance of survival.
