Treatment of centripetal fibroids

Centripetal fibroid is a benign formation that is located in the uterine cavity and develops inside it. The most serious complication of this pathology is infertility. It is caused by the rapid growth of the tumor. At the Other Gynecology clinic in Moscow, highly qualified specialists will be able to stop centripetal growth and prevent infertility.

Conservative treatment

Drug treatment includes the following drugs:

  1. Antagonist hormones. The main effect is a decrease in the functioning of the pituitary system, which leads to a decrease in the production of estrogen by the ovaries. The course of treatment is 6 months. When hormone levels decrease, uncontrolled bleeding of the uterus stops and the woman’s well-being improves.
  2. Antiprogestogen hormones. They help stop centripetal growth and act for six months.
  3. Antigonadotropin hormones. These are male hormone preparations. A course of treatment allows you to achieve optimal levels of luteonizing and follicle-stimulating hormones. As ovulation stops, tumor growth stops.
  4. Antifibrotic drugs. They help reduce the volume of fibrous tissue.

Iron supplements are prescribed to treat iron deficiency anemia, and anti-inflammatory drugs are used to prevent complications.

Surgical intervention

Most often, patients turn to the Other Gynecology clinic when the tumor reaches its final stages. It is then that it takes on life-threatening dimensions - more than 4 cm in diameter. Surgical treatment is prescribed for large tumors or ineffective drug treatment.

Surgeons use three main methods:

  1. Hysteroscopy. During the operation, a hysteroscope is inserted into the uterine cavity and the tumor is excised. The rehabilitation period lasts up to 14 days. The woman may subsequently become pregnant.
  2. Laparotomy. The best way to treat. It is a minimally invasive method and does not require incision of the abdomen to access the uterus. During laparotomy, the blood supply to the tumor is disrupted, as a result of which nutrition of the fibroid becomes impossible and the node decreases and sometimes completely disappears.
  3. Uterine amputation. This type of operation is performed extremely rarely, when the myomatous node is very widespread. If there is a high probability of developing complications in the form of severe endometriosis, necrosis of uterine tissue or adenomyosis, the uterus is completely removed along with the tumor.

The latter technique implies the inability to become pregnant in the future. Therefore, it is only used for women over 45 years of age.
